Dimapur, December 15 (MExN): Five individuals from the Koladisa area of Assam were apprehended on Sunday by the Intanki Protection Force for illegally entering the Intanki National Park with the intent of “hunting and poaching.” The group was caught “sneaking” into the protected area, said Intanki National Park officials. Aauthorities recovered arms, ammunition and other hunting equipment from their possession. The accused have been booked under the stringent Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and the Arms Act. “The due process of law will follow,” the official stated. The Intanki Protection Force issued an appeal to the public, urging them to refrain from all hunting and poaching activities. It highlighted that such criminal acts are punishable under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, with imprisonment of up to seven years and/or a fine of up to Rs 25,000.
