DIMAPUR, June 5 (MExN): A retired Bank employee Debasish Aich who served as a Special Assistant in State Bank of India, along with his wife and two daughters who were occupying the staff quarter illegally for the past five years, was evicted here today at Bank Colony Dimapur in presence of the district administration and authorities of the State Bank of India.

“We are carrying out as per the directives issued by the Court of Law” said Tarep Imchen SDO (Civil) who was present at the spot. The retired occupant was residing unlawfully despite repeated notices issued against him by the court as well as the department to vacate since his retirement on March 31, 2001.

“Several notices for vacating the house were issued to him and had even pasted the same on the gates and walls but just kept on applying for stay order from the court” said an employee of the State Bank of India. The recent check out notice from the court was issued on May 21 directing the occupier to vacate by June 1.

“The order issued recently was to vacate on June 1 but did not happen and suddenly why today and that too without any information, I am compelled to vacate, had they have informed me then I could have make some arrangements for a place to stay” said Debasish and added that the act of sudden eviction has “embarrassed us.”
