Dimapur, December 14 (MExN): The Golden Jubilee programme of the Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA) on Sunday turned out to be a grand occasion with thousands of worshippers thronging the DABA main Church with several special invitees in attendance. Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Dr. Wati Aier, Principal of Oriental Theological Seminary, highlighted on the theme of “celebrating God’s faithfulness” and gave a biblical as well as real life account of experiencing God’s faithfulness.
“Our biggest comfort is that despite the world changing, God’s faithfulness stands like a rock,” Rev. Aier said and termed the journey made by the DABA as “50 years of God’s faithfulness.” He encouraged the DABA by saying that God’s assurance stays even in a world filled by trials and tribulations. Rev. Aier also said that God’s faithfulness should not only remain a mere slogan or theme but that ‘experience of faithfulness’ should be there for the individual, Church and family. “Our faith in God will lead the way for us,” he assured the gathering. Rev. Aier cautioned that many Christians, because of losing faith, had become prophets and prophetesses of doom.
Meanwhile, earlier in the programme, Rev. Longkok, ex-Pastor of DABA, shared a few words of wisdom besides releasing a book chronicling the history of DABA. Rev. Longkok spoke about the difficulties of the DABA’s early history and recalled on the revival of 1976 terming this as a ‘new direction for the Church’. He also reminded of the declaration made in 1979 that DABA would take upon itself as a missionary church. Rev. Longkok also called for unity in purpose as the DABA moved forward towards a new era.
Other highlights of the morning programme included special songs presented by the Lotha Baptist Church Choir and Male Voice. Pastor of Mokokchung Town Baptist Arogo, Rev. Ponen Longchar, brought greetings from Mokokchung, while Imola, Associate Pastor Women, DABA, read the scripture. The programme was chaired by Atula, while closing prayer was offered by Supongrepba, ex-Pastor of DABA.
