
KOHIMA, OCTOBER 16 (MExN): The Excise personnel manning the Khuzama inter-state check gate under Kohima district seized 500 cases of assorted Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) on October 15 at around 7:26 a.m.
According to Venezolu Dawhuo, Deputy Commissioner of Excise (Zonal), Kohima, the excise duty personnel intercepted a truck bearing registration number NL-01AK-1796 during routine checking. On thorough inspection, 500 cases of assorted IMFL were found neatly concealed under bags of essential commodities.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Rashidul Islam (20), son of Md. Siddique and a resident of Goalpara district, Assam, was apprehended for violating the provisions of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act, 1989. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Act. Preliminary investigation revealed that the consignment was allegedly loaded from Dimapur and was bound for Imphal.
