Dimapur: A multi-speciality health mela was successfully concluded at Pihekhu Village under Niuland Block, Dimapur district on March 2. The Health Mela was organized by the Department of Health & Family Welfare under the aegis of National Health Mission at Government Middle School building at Pihekhu village.
During the Mela, specialist doctors from various health programmes such as National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme, National Programme for Control of Blindness, National Leprosy Eradication Programme, District Aids Control Programme Unit, Universal Immunization Programme, Reproductive & Child Health, Revised National TB Control Programme, Gyneacologist, Paedetrician and general Medical Officers and Laboratories Technicians were available to examine the patients. According to a press note family Planning services such Sterilization and Copper-T INSERT IGNOREions were performed.
A total of 539 patients availed the services provided during the Mela. 10 laproscopy ligation, 5 Copper-T INSERT IGNOREion and 2 Medically Terminated Pregnancy were also performed. 40 Children were also immunized, 12 ANCs and 40 blood tested by ICTC during the Mela. Interpersonal Communication on Safe motherhood, Diarrhea, Exclusive Breastfeeding, Family planning and New Borne Care were carried out. Screening of Public Service Advertisement and documentaries on Health services were aired besides distribution of IEC materials in local dialect. Free Medicines were also distributed to patients and compensations were paid to those beneficiaries opting for permanent method of Family Planning.
