56th National Cross Country C’ships: Nagaland secure 3rd in women’s 10km

Host Nagaland featured in the medal tally of the 56th National Cross Country Championships (NCCC) 2022, courtesy of its female athletes, at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on March 26. 

Tsuchoi T, Peiheiteile Esalung, H Wannya and Niansai T representing Nagaland bagged the third position in the women’s 10km category and secured the bronze medal. 

Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB)  represented by Varsha Devi, Manju Yadav, Preenu Yadav and Munni Devi won goled  while  Himachal Pradesh, represented by Manjula Kumari, Gargi Sharma, Jyoti Bala and Ganga stood second position.

Besides, in the North-East States category, Tsuchoi came first in the women’s 10 km category while  Kughaho got the third position in 8 km boys under-20.

In girl’s 6 km Under-20 event, Songmo P and Vesatseilu Khesoh secured first and second position respectively while in the 6 km Boys-U 18, ThejangulieSote and Keneingutuo Rame got the second and third position respectively. In girl’s 4 km event Nirmala won the second position while Jemie Y got the third position in the 2 km Girls-U16 event.

Men’s 10 Km, other results 
In National Championships under 10 km (Men), Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) represented by Dashan Singh, Dipak Suhaug, Deepak Singh Rawat and Rajendra Nath secured 1st position while   Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) represented by Narendra Pratap Singh, Dinesh, Virendra Kumar Pal and Harshad Mhatre bagged 2nd position.

Uttarkhand represented by Nand Singh Rawat, Pramod Singh, Manoj Singh Kotliya and Rahul Singh Bora were third. 
In 8 km (Boy’s -U20) event, Uttar Pradesh bagged the championship title through Akash Patel, Pankaj Kumar, Love Chaudhury and Vinit Rathi.

Delhi, represented by Prashant Choudhary, Pritam Kumar, Vipin and Hritik Balyan came second while  Maharashtra, represented by Indrajeet Ashok Farakate, Ankit Kumar, Abhishek Kamanna Devkate and Karan Gahandule bagged third place.

In girl’s 6 km (U20), Maharashtra, represented by Vishakha Sanjay Salunke, Shivani Kulkarni, Pallavi Chandrakant Jagada and Bhagyashree Bhaskar Bhand, bagged the gold, while Haryana’s Varsha, Madhu, Jyoti and Somya won the silver. 

Rajasthan through Namta Choudhury, Latika Talwar, Anushka Choudhary and Rajkumar Garasiya bagged the bronze.
