5th Edition of Young Leaders Connect from October 28-29

Kohima, October 26 (MExN): Young Leaders Connect (YLC), an initiative of Nagaland based organisation- Youth Net will have its fifth edition at Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh from October 28-29, 2016 to be held under the theme “Start-Up North-East, Stand-Up North East.” The two day conclave will deliberate on issues such as “Challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship and skill building in the North East”, “Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Education” and “Entrepreneurship, Funding and Credit Linkages” apart from other round table discussions and workshops for entrepreneurs.  

The first session will focus on the challenges and opportunities to foster an entrepreneurial eco-system in the North East and how they can build on the government’s vision of ‘Skilling on a large scale at Speed with high standards and to promote a culture of innovation based entrepreneurship to ensure sustainable livelihoods for all citizens.  

The second session will explore how educational institutions can promote innovative thinking and research into the local context and also incorporating entrepreneurial education into the curriculum. The third session will deliberate on the various opportunities available to entrepreneurs in the region to access finance and credit linkages across different verticals and business levels and why funding to entrepreneurs is very minimal in the North-East vis-à-vis rest of India and what can be done to bridge the gap.  

The inaugural session on October 28 will be graced by Union Minister of State (Ind), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Rajiv Pratap Rudy while Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu will be the chief host. Prominent YLC members include Union Minister of State (Home Affairs), Kiren Rijiju, MPs like Mary Kom, Gaurav Gogoi, Sushmita Dev, Conrad Sangma, Nagaland State Parliamentary Secretary for Skills Development & Entrepreneurship, Mmhonlumo Kikon, Bhaichung Bhutia, Founder of Youth Net, Hekani Jakhalu apart from MP Rajiv Chandrasekhar, who will be delivering the keynote address during the inaugural.  

A host of speakers including Naveen Verma (IAS), Secretary DONER, Paul Muktieh, CMD NEDFI, Karma Paljor, Jyotsna Sitling, Larsing Ming, Dr. Sriparna Baruah, Arindam Hazarika, Bhairavi Jani, Ben Imchen, CEO Elysium Tech, Rahul Mirchandani, Natalie West Kharkongor, Associate Professor, IIM Shillong, Dr. S.R.M Prasanna, IIT Guwahati, Mark Laitflang Stone, MD, Group Avenues, Meghanath Singh, CEO & Co-founder www.giskaa.com, Mehernosh Shapoorjee, Co-Founder, IEF Foundation, Alay Barah, Executive Director, ICCO, and Dr. Syed Kayi, Founder NEDF will be part of the two day conclave.  

The 5th YLC edition will see the convergence of entrepreneurs from all the 8 states of North East India including a 40-member delegation from Nagaland. An exhibition football match will also be played between YLC XI and CM XI on October 29, 2016. Bhaichung Bhutia will be the captain for YLC XI team while Kiren Rijiju will be the vice captain.  For the CM XI Team, Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu will be the captain and Nabam Tuki, Ex Chief Minister will be the vice captain.
