It was an unusual discharge from the quarantine centre (QC) for 6 youths as they were arrested as soon as their quarantine period was over on July 9 in Tizit under Mon district.

The 6 returnees from Haryana and Gujarat had reportedly caused trouble in the QC on July 2 when they started a fight after consuming liquor. “I don’t know how they managed to smuggle in the alcohol,” Mon DC Thavaseelan K told The Morung Express.

The youths reportedly destroyed school property and disturbed the peace in the St Francis School Tizit QC where they had been quarantined.

The police had to be called in to break the fight, and since the second test result of the returnees were still awaited, those who had intervened in the fight were also quarantined.

In this connection, a case was registered in Tizit police station.

On completion of their 28 day quarantine, and after testing negative twice, the 6 youths were discharged after clearance from the CS.

Soon after the clearance, they were arrested and forwarded to judicial custody on July 9.
