Minister for National Highways & Political Affairs Kaito Aye today said that presently, there are 11 roads under National Highways in the state covering total length of 1546 kms and another six National Highways are approved in principle covering a total length of 795 kms covering all the district headquarters and covering three International Trade Centres – Longwa in Mon, Pangsha in Tuensang and Avangkhu in Phek.
Addressing “Colloquium on Road Connectivity” here at State Banquet Hall, the minister said that consultant has been appointed and preparation of DPRs are in progress and early sanctions are awaited.
The six National Highways approved in principle includes- NH 29 to NH 29 total length of 2. 7 kms, Tsuminyu- Zunheboto- Aghunato- Shamator- Noklak- Pangsha with total lengh of 200 kms, Trans Eastern highways from Mon- Longa- Pangsha- Kiphire- Avangkhu with a total length of 280 kms, Gandhi Ashram Chuchuyimlang NH 2 to Pangsha (International Trade Centre) with total length of 167 kms, Maibung in Tening Nagaland to Tamenglong via Tamai in Manipur with total length of 75 kms and (Ramani Ali) Sinulagari- Bihubar in Assam to Mon in Nagaland with a total length of 71 km.
Aye appealed to all the tribal Hohos to extend their full cooperation in acquiring land made free from all encumbrances for successful construction of roads.
Some of the major ongoing highway projects in the state include; Dimapur- Kohima road 4 laning, two laning of road from Botsa to Wokha (32.40 km)- Kohima- Mokokchung road, two laning of road from 168 kms to 183 km (15 kms)- Mokokchung –Tuli section and construction of city road from Golaghat junction Dimapur to Patkai Bridge Chumukedima (17 kms) works to take off shortly.
