Prasielie Pienyu, Chairman of NHHDC Ltd inaugurates Handloom Exhibition at Urban Haat, Dimapur on November 12.
Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): The Handloom Exhibition in Dimapur was officially inaugurated by Prasielie Pienyu, Chairman of the Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd (NHHDC Ltd) on November 12.
The event, which commenced on November 11, is being organised by the NHHDC Ltd. It is sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, New Delhi. Scheduled to run until November 24, the exhibition is open to all at Urban Haat, Dimapur.
The Project Manager, NHHDC Ltd in a press release stated that a total of 60 participants, including artisans and weavers from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and various districts of Nagaland, will showcase a diverse collection of handloom, khadi, and handicraft products that embody the region’s rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship.
The guest of honour, Prasielie Pienyu, Chairman of NHHDC Ltd, in his address at the inauguration, emphasised the need to preserve traditional crafts and promote self-reliance among artisans and weavers. He commended the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, for sponsoring the Expo, and appreciated NHHDC Ltd. for their continued efforts in promoting the handloom sector. He also encouraged artisans to pursue creativity and innovation, while urging the public to support and promote locally made handloom and handicraft products.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Er Y Lipongse Thongtsar, Managing Director of NHHDC Ltd., encouraged participants to be creative, strive for excellence, and uphold traditional craftsmanship through hard work, honesty, and passion. He further emphasized the Expo’s role in fostering market linkages and creating opportunities for the economic empowerment of artisans and weavers.
