DIMAPUR, JULY 9 (MExN): In response to severe flooding in Dimapur, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) carried out extensive search and rescue operations across multiple flood-affected colonies on July 8, successfully evacuating 60 individuals, including 31 males and 29 females.

According to a DIPR report, the rescue operations began at 6 AM at Lengrijan (Ao-khel) Dump, where 14 persons (10 males, 4 females) were rescued. This was followed by evacuations from Immanuel College Lengrijan Dump (3 persons), United Colony Half Nagarjan Dump (5 persons), Vihume Colony Dump (14 persons), and Medical Colony Dump (4 persons).

By late morning, operations shifted to Notun Bosti. At 11:30 AM, four persons were rescued from Sema Khel, Notun Bosti, and another 16 people were evacuated from LRC Notun Bosti. Operations concluded at 2 PM with no casualties reported from any location.

The SDRF team was commended for its prompt response and effective coordination during the emergency.

Following the rescue operations, district authorities led by Dimapur Deputy Commissioner Dr Tinojongshi Chang conducted site inspections in the affected areas, accompanied by members of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Colony and Village Council representatives, and DMC councillors.

The inspection covered Lengrijan, Notun Bosti, IV-LRC, Island Colony, and Nagarjan. Officials assessed the extent of damage, interacted with affected residents, and reviewed immediate relief and rehabilitation needs.

Authorities assured that all necessary assistance—including temporary shelter, food, and medical aid—would be provided. The SDRF and DDMA are continuing to monitor the situation closely and ready to act upon any further emergencies.
