65th Pfuchatsumia Khel Day celebrated in Kohima

The 65th Pfuchatsumia Khel Day was celebrated today at Christ King Ground, P Khel, Kohima village.


Gracing the occasion as special guest, Kohima deputy commissioner Thejawelie Gregory Sote called upon the P Khel community to upkeep better understanding and the feeling of oneness and work in unison for all round development.


Sote, who also hail from P Khel, called upon the community to retrospect both the strengths and the weakness over the years and adopt new approach to march ahead.


He also sought unflinching support from the public for the successful execution of Kohima smart city project including the proposed four lane road project which will be touching Kohima village.


Quoting “Health is wealth,” he challenged the people to intensify cleanliness campaign and make clean and safe environment to live in.


P Khel Council Chairman Kruyie Pienyü called upon the youngsters to subscribe to right code of life and uphold the pride and integrity of the khel.
Stating that climate change is felt here in Nagaland too, he stressed on the need to adopt mitigation approach for better survival.


Vilie-o Rutsa, Head GB Vineipra Pienyü and PMK president Vilazonuo Rutsa also exhorted the gathering.


P Khel Council Secretary Kelhousetuo Rutsa highlighted the activities of the Council from 2016-19.


80 plus citizens numbering 28 from P Khel were honored with gifts. The Council also conferred recognition award to seven achievers from the Khel which included: Medozhale Pienyü- President’s Medal for Meritorious Service, Er Keduozotuo Rutsa- SDO Electrical Department, NPSC 2017, Khriebeilie Pienyü- Junior Soil Conservation Officer, Department of Soil & Water Conservation, NPSC 2018, Dr Mhalevilie Sote- Doctor of Ministry from Christian Academy for Advance Theological Studying, Tamil Nadu 2017, Kereisanuo Marlyn Rutsa- 2nd rank in Bachelor of Legislative Law (BA, LLB) 2018 Guwahati, Kevisedeii Christina Rame- 7th rank (Education subject topper) in BA exam 2018, Nagaland University and Mhasilenuo Mechiilho- 4th rank (Arts Stream) in HSSLC exam 2018.


Meanwhile, nomination committee Convenor Prasielie Pienyü announced the new executives of Pfuchatsumia Students’ Union for the tenure 2019-2020 and P Khel Council (2019-2022) led by President Keduozotuo Rutsa, Vice President – Keduokuolie Pienyü, General Secretary – Neiphrevinuo Sote and 13 other members.


P Khel Council Vice Chairman Dr Dziesekhrielie Pienyü chaired the function while vote of thanks was proposed by P Khel Council Joint Secretary Neisakuolie Rutsa.


The celebration was also marked by folk song, tati pfhe, community feast and ended with variety show featuring local artistes including DGP band.
