66th AKM conference starts with grandeur

Students challenged to work in unity and have targets in life

Chuchuyimpang, January 14 (MExN): The 66th general conference of Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (Ao Students’ Conference) kick started off to a grand opening with nearly four thousand people attending the inaugural programme here today.

It was a sea of humanity inside the conference hall – dubbed as one of the biggest conference halls – with delegates from the six ranges under Mokokchung and other AKM units from all over the state and outside.

The chief guest Congress MLA Imtikumzuk, who formally lighted the conference torch in front of the conference hall, challenged the Ao students to work together in unity so that a “good political leader” would emerge from among the Ao community.

Lamenting the lack of good political leaders among the Aos in this present generation, the Congress MLA highlighted the need to work together so a strong political leader is produced from Ao community.

The guest of honor, MLA Dr Imtiwapang, while speaking at the programme, asked the students to have a target in life, otherwise one would become directionless. In this regard, he urged the students to have faith in their own capabilities and be focused so that they can become responsible citizens in the society.

The 66th AKM general conference was attended by a host of dignitaries including the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Superintendent of Police and others. The Village Council chairman of Chuchuyimpang, Repatemsu Jamir welcomed the delegates while the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Muruho Chostso exhorted the audience.

The Chuchuyimpang Students’ Union presented the curtain raiser while Aien Jamir presented a special number. It may be noted that 2500 delegates, invitees and guests are attending the AKM general conference, which is the biggest students’ conference in the Ao community.
