The 66th Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) General Conference concluded this evening with Dr N Benjong Aier, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and Chairman NSAMB as the chief guest. The three day general conference concluded with the apex students’ orgnaisation of the Ao community adopting a six point resolution here this evening.
The Ao Students Conference resolved to open a new college at Mokokchung district and to further encourage the existing colleges in the district. And to have a re-look at resolution No. 12 of Mongsenyimti conference, a special committee will be formed. It also resolved to compile a book containing the pioneers of Aos in all the fields, to justify the declaration of Mokokchung as the “Land of Pioneers”.
The third resolution stated that the AKM will find the proper means to renovate and make new “Ring Roads” in and around Mokokchung town. Another important resolution was to review the functioning of ‘Survival Mokokchung’; it resolved that the campaign will be strengthened and continued.
The AKM also resolved that any Ao family that employs a domestic help should treat them properly so as not to bring any defamation to the society. Finally it resolved that the findings during the workshop held on January 16 on the theme ‘Orientated Citizen” would be put into words. A new team of office bearers was also elected during the 66th AKM General Conference.
The new team is headed by L Jemdi Longchar as the president and Bendangkumba Aier as the General Secretary. S. Chuba Lkr, MLA and Vice Chairman NSAMB was the guest of honor at the programme. The 67th AKM General Conference will be held at Changtongya village.
