The 6th Mokokchung Winter Night Carnival was inaugurated on Monday evening at the Town Square (Police Point), with Temsuchuba Jamir, SDO (Civil), Mokokchung, gracing the inaugural programme as the patron.
The three-night carnival, organised by the Adventure and Motorsports Association Mokokchung (AMAM), will continue till December 17 and is being held daily from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm along the stretch from Main Police Point to Rotary Junction.
Formally inaugurating the carnival stalls, Temsuchuba Jamir extended season’s greetings to the public and thanked the organising committee for successfully conducting the sixth edition of the Winter Night Carnival. He noted that the event has provided a platform for the people of Mokokchung to showcase their talents and has created opportunities for local entrepreneurs and families.
Despite the cold December evening, the SDO (C) remarked that the festive atmosphere brought warmth and cheer, especially during a time when schools and colleges are closed and families gather to relax and celebrate together. He acknowledged the role of AMAM in bringing hope and opportunities to several families through the carnival and expressed hope that the event would carry the spirit of Christmas and positivity.
Jamir urged the public to enjoy the carnival responsibly and maintain discipline so that the event can continue in the coming years. He wished the organising committee success for the three-night programme and encouraged everyone to make the most of the festivities.
This year’s Winter Night Carnival has recorded its highest participation so far, with a total of 109 stalls set up for the event—including food, merchandise and game stalls, music corner, photo booths, kids’ play zone and other attractions.
