DIMAPUR, May 19 (MExN): In the ongoing 6th Summer Cup Cricket Tournament,the teams joining the tournament from both the states (Assam and Nagaland) showed their enthusiasm towards game in order to hone their skills and to produce the budding talents among youth.
The Tournament was started on May 11 on a knock-out basis, played only on Sundays. Three games were played at Balijan Ground, near forest Gate, Karbi Anglong (Assam). Three teams made their way to victory while three others made early exits.
The first match was played between Yepthomi Automobiles and Gold Star 11. Gold Star 11 batted first and posted a score of 82 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 12overs match. Chasing the target of 82 runs Yepthomi Automobiles got off to a good start with
Hosito playing well. He scored 2 boundaries and 3 sixes enabling his team to reach the target in 9.3 overs. Toto of Yepthomi Automobiles Scored a 16 runs and claimed 4 wickets. He was declared as the man of the match. In the second match, Balijan Youth Club played against Netaji Cricket Club. Winning the toss, Netaji elected to bat first and scored 97 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 12 overs. Raju of Netaji Cricket scored 58 in 41 balls. In reply Balijan Youth Club reached the target in
11,3 overs with the loss of 7 wickets . BYC won the match by 3 wickets. The Third Match was played between Super Caps and Church's Colony. The toss was won by Super caps, who bowled first and scored 86 runs in 12. Church's Colony failed to reach the target, handing the victory to Super Caps.
