7 new cases on Sunday, State’s tally at 43

Dimapur, May 31 (MExN): Nagaland’s total number of active COVID-19 cases rose to 43 following the confirmation of 7 new cases on May 31. 


All the active cases are related to the Shramik special train from Chennai that reached the state on May 22.


Out of the 43 cases, Dimapur has reported 25, Kohima has 13 while Tuensang has 5 . All the positive persons are being kept under medical observation at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and active surveillance is going on to prevent further spreading of the infection, according to Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha.


Till date, a total of 2,576 samples have been tested out of which results of 1514 samples have tested negative.  43 samples tested positive while results for 1019 samples are awaited.  


Through the Truenat testing machines, a total of 86 samples have been tested and results of 82 have returned negative. The results of 4 samples are awaited.  

 

Over 2000 expected to arrive
Sinha meanwhile informed that a special train carrying about 1,600 stranded persons of Nagaland will be leaving Bengaluru, Karnataka, on June 2 for Dimapur. This train is expected to reach Dimapur on the June 5.


Another Special Train which left Goa on May 28 carrying about 435 stranded persons of Nagaland along with persons of other north eastern states is expected to reach Lumding, Assam, late on Sunday. From Lumding, the returnees bound for Nagaland will be brought by another train to Dimapur, he added.


The Control Room, Empowered Group, Dimapur also informed that a train carrying 85 Nagaland bound passengers will arrive in the early hours of June 1. 


Altogether, 71 returnees from other parts of the country reached Dimapur on Sunday via trains, buses and private cars.
