78th Battalion CRPF, Kohima Forest undertake tree plantation drive

Kohima, June 1 (MExN): As part of its commitment towards environmental conservation and sustainable development, the 78th Battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in collaboration with Kohima Forest Division, Kohima Range, Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, organised a joint tree plantation drive at Chakhabama in Kohima district on June 1.

The plantation was conducted under the theme ‘Inspired by Nature- for climate, for our future’, emphasizing the importance of preserving ecological balance and fostering environmental stewardship among citizens and security personnel alike.

The event witnessed the participation of officers and personnel of 78 Battalion CRPF along with Forest Ranger officials and staff of the Kohima Forest Division. During the programme, saplings of various indigenous and environmentally significant species were planted with the objective of enhancing green cover, restoring ecological health, and promoting biodiversity in the area.

Representatives from both the 78 Bn CRPF led by Vikram, Assistant Commandant and the Kohima Range Forest Department led by Khrielakuolie, Forest ranger, spoke about the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges and creating a sustainable future for coming generations.

They reiterated their commitment towards supporting initiatives aimed at environmental protection and climate resilience.

The plantation drive also served as a platform to spread awareness regarding the importance of afforestation, conservation of natural resources, and the role of every individual in safeguarding the environment.

78 Bn CRPF deployed in Nagaland since 2007 for maintaining peace, law & order and other security duties. Battalion is conducting various community outreach programs aimed at strengthening bond between local population and CRPF.
