Wokha District joined in celebrating the 78th Independence Day at local ground, Wokha town. The event was graced by the Advisor for Agriculture, Mhathung Yanthan, as the chief guest.

The day’s proceedings commenced with the hoisting of the national flag across various government offices, institutions, residences, and business establishments. Institutional visits were conducted at key locations, including Sub-Jail Wokha, Mhondamo Memorial District Hospital, Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital, 24th Assam Rifles Hospital, and Panacea Nursing Home. Organisations such as Team Metamorphosis, the District Chambers of Commerce & Industry, SBI Wokha, the CDPO Wokha, and the Red Cross Wokha extended their services during these visits.

The parade, a central feature of the celebration, was reviewed by Superintendent of Police, Wokha, Aotula Imchen. A total of 10 contingents includes DEF Wokha, 7th NAP Bhandari, Home Guards & Civil Defence, 10th NAP (IR), Ex-Servicemen, and NCC units from Mount Tiyi College and Government Higher Secondary School Wokha, the Bharat Scouts & Guides and Fernbrook School Wokha, which provided the band party participated in the parade. The parade was led by SDPO Wokha, Sangthing Khiam (NPS), with ABI Shingnya Khiamniungan of the 12th NAP (IR) serving as the parade 2i/c.

Cultural performances such as folk song and folk dance were presented by the Wokha Town Eloe Eramo Okho and Phiro Cultural Troupe.

Perennial School Wokha presented a special piece titled “Echoes of Independence: Honouring Our Heroes.”

During his address, the Chief Guest, Mhathung Yanthan, underscored the importance of Independence Day and praised the community for its ongoing contributions to the district's development. He also presented District Level Awards to several exemplary employees, including ABSI Elithung Tungoe (DEF Wokha), Forester M. Myingthungo Yanthan (Wokha Forest Division), LDA Y. Abemo Kikon (SDO(C) Ralan), UBC Mhathung Kikon (DEF Wokha), Forest Guard Y. Khyopenthung Shitiri (Doyang Plantation Division), and LDA C. Thechano (PWD (R&B)).

The event concluded with the inauguration of stalls by the Chief Guest, where various departments and Self Help Groups displayed local products and services.
