The 7th Edition of the Inter-Departmental Badminton Championship kicked off today at the Indoor Badminton Stadium in Wokha. The event was graced by Vineet Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Wokha as special guest.
In his speech, Vineet Kumar emphasized the importance of sports in promoting unity, teamwork, and healthy competition within the community. He praised the initiative of organizing such an event, stating that it provided an excellent platform for individuals from various departments to come together, build camaraderie, and engage in physical activity for overall well-being. He encouraged all participants to not only strive for victory but to also cherish the experience and values that sports impart, including discipline, perseverance, and respect for others.
The event featured a presentation and an oath-taking ceremony led by Sedevizo Pienyu, PIS District Sports Officer of Wokha, who reaffirmed the commitment of all participants to uphold the values of fair play and sportsmanship throughout the championship. Later, the special guest officially declared the championship open.
With 42 teams from various departments across Wokha District participating, the championship is expected to be a thrilling contest. The event will culminate on March 19.
