DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 1 (MExN): The 7th MykiFest is underway at Hortiscape, Naga Heritage Village, Kisama, Kohima, coinciding with the 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival. Inaugurated by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the event celebrates the vital role of women in Nagaland’s socioeconomic growth.
MykiFest, launched in August 2017 and integrated into the Hornbill Festival since 2018, has become a platform to honor women’s achievements. The Myki Stall showcases products from the apparel and accessories production program, the Food Processing & Resource Centre, and the works of trainees and instructors from the Multi-Training Centres in Kohima and Dimapur.
The highlight of this year’s MykiFest is the Exhibition of Tribal Attires & Designs, organized under the Protection & Promotion of Textile Designs 2024-25. The exhibition focuses on preserving traditional weaves and designs, promoting contemporary tribal clothing, supporting women entrepreneurs, creating livelihoods, and boosting tourism through market linkages.
The festival underscores the spirit of women-led entrepreneurship while celebrating Nagaland’s diverse cultural heritage.
