8th Music Awards Nagaland

The Native Trax Society (NTS) has announced the beginning of preliminaries for the annual state music awards – 8th Music Awards of Nagaland (MAN) 2016. Making the announcement at a press conference on October 4, NTS informed that original compositions recorded and released in Nagaland anytime after November 1, 2015 are eligible for submission.   The awards slated to be held in December during the Hornbill Festival at Kisama will honour the original works of recording artistes of different genres from the state. “Over the last eight years, the Music Awards of Nagaland has put the spotlight on some truly remarkable homegrown talent. It has showcased musicians and others involved in the local music industry,” stated NTS.   It was informed that a few significant format changes have been introduced this year. The voting card system for the ‘Song of the Year’ award has been done away with and will be based on online ‘hits’ and ‘likes’. “The award of ‘Song of the Year’ will go to the nomination which secures the highest points based on ‘Likes’ and ‘Shares’ on the MAN Facebook page and number of views on the MAN Youtube channel.” Artistes will also not be required to pay entry fees. Further, a new award category - Best Songwriter/Lyricist has also been introduced.   Any local recording artistes, recording studios, producers or their respective representatives can submit original material (Nagamese, Hindi, English and Naga vernaculars) produced during the aforesaid period for consideration and eventual nomination. All entries will be screened and the best among the submissions will be selected to make the final list of nominees in various categories.   Entries can be submitted via email to musicanagaland@gmail.com and via Whatsapp to 9089409715 or in person at the NTS office located at NST colony, Dimapur.
