8th North East India Choral Competition on November 2

Celebrating ‘Togetherness’, a harmonious relationship and understanding among the Northeast communities at large, the 8th edition of the North-East India Choral Competition is all set to be held on November 2, at Thyagaraj Stadium, New Delhi. 


Since its inception in 2012, around 30 choirs have taken part in the annual singing competition showcasing the unique culture, tradition, and music of the region in the Capital city.    


Organized by the Tangkhul Christian Charitable Trust (TCCT) under the theme 'Togetherness', the event will be graced by Ram Muivah, IAS, Secretary, North Eastern Council while Rev. Dr. Praveen Paul, Principal, Union Biblical Seminary will be the speaker and Soso Shaiza, Member, National Commission for Women (NCW) will be present as the guest of honour. The event will have two sessions followed by the result and prizes. 


This year, eight choir groups (Khoibu Baptist Emmanuel Fellowship, Maram Thangal Fellowship Delhi, Tangkhul Church Delhi, Poumai Baptist Church Delhi, Independent Church of India, Community Church Delhi, Tangkhul Church Delhi, Gurgaon and Kuki Christian Fellowship, Gurgaon) will compete for the title with cash prizes of Rs. 3 lakh for the winner, Rs. 2 lakh and Rs. 1 lakh for first and second runners-up, while the participants will be awarded consolation prize Rs 10,000 respectively.  


The event will witness some of the renowned international musicologists as judges for the competition.
