8th Oriental College Fiesta cum Advent Christmas held

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 13 (MExN): Oriental College celebrated its 8th Fiesta cum Advent Christmas 2024 with the theme "Fun with Financial Literacy." The event aimed to provide a joyful and festive atmosphere for students after a rigorous academic year, while also focusing on financial literacy.

The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Khriereizhünuo Dzüvichü, Principal of Oriental College Kohima, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of financial education among students.

The event featured esteemed resource persons, including T. Zou, Manager of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and Lamgunhoi Grace Khongsai, Assistant Manager, RBI.

In his address, Zou highlighted the RBI's mission to impart financial knowledge to young adults, preparing them for future employment opportunities. He also noted that the financial literacy rate in Nagaland stands at 8%, significantly below the national average. He stressed the urgent need for increasing financial literacy in the region to empower individuals with essential financial skills.

Lamgunhoi Grace Khongsai demonstrated practical tips on identifying genuine and counterfeit banknotes. She further educated the audience on the importance of linking Aadhaar numbers with bank accounts, which can facilitate easy access to various financial services and investments. Additionally, Khongsai highlighted that banks are mandated to accept and exchange worn-out notes, ensuring seamless financial transactions.
