Taking the Common Platform organized by 8th Western Urban Panchayats Union, three intending candidates of the 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency for February 27 polls today shared their visions and ideologies before the mass gathering here at APO Hall.
NPF candidate Kenizakho Nakhro said that he will serve the people with utmost sincerity and work for common cause. Nakhro said he would accord top priority on safe drinking water, proper drainage system, footpath including road sector.
Expressing deep concern over the high rate of school drop-out and unemployment problem, he said that he would connect the youth to the series of training and skill development programmes. He was also of the view that the youth should not sit idle but engage in the various trades for self reliant as it is quite impossible to accommodate everyone in the government set up. Nakhro also assured to give special attention on women empowerment.
Assuring to stick to the principle of equality, Nakhro said he would exercise the best wisdom to see that the deserving beneficiaries get its due share of the schemes and developmental packages. Also declaring that he would meticulously work for common interest, he appealed the voters to cast their vote in his favour and give him a chance to serve them.
NDPP candidate Er Kevisekho Kruse said NDPP will be contesting in this election with fresh candidates with fresh vision. Er. Kruse told the gathering that the current state of affairs and social problem has pained him a lot for which he took decision to enter into politics to correct the ills and bring change in the Naga society.
Er. Kruse said it is high time for us to check where we are today and what needs to be done for the future. “Your precious vote will decide your future,” he said adding that a time has come for each and every individual to settle as to whether to move forward or stay backward.
Stating that he has dream and zeal to serve the public, he, however, categorically said that he cannot translate his dream and vision into a reality without the support and mandate of the people.
He requested the electorates to lend helping hand, morale support and vote for him. Er. Kruse said if elected he would treat everyone equally and do justice, adding that fair, justice and equal attention would be put into effect for the welfare and upliftment of the people irrespective of tribe or race, religion, denomination.
NPP candidate Asu Keyho said the party has a bright prospect to be in the ruling government. Keyho said if elected, he will be in the ruling government and get a cabinet berth. Keyho said that he will focus on the overall development of the constituency people. He also assured the electorates of 8th Western Angami A/C that he would get in touch with urban development ministry and poverty alleviation ministry and connect the people to avail various welfare schemes and developmental activities. He also made a fervent appeal to the electorates to take wise decision and get him elected for progress and overall development of the constituency.
The programme was chaired by Dr. David Sachii, convenor, Common Platform Committee while Zeruuzo Suohu, general secretary 8th Western Urban Panchayats Union delivered welcome address. Khrielakuo Sekhose, president 8th Western Urban Panchayats Union proposed vote of thanks.
