In a welcome gesture, Nagaland Horticulture & Women Resource Development, Minister Salhoutuonuo Kruse launched 8th Western Angami AC Urban Area Water Project in Kohima on February 6.
This project, in the form of water tanker facility is meant for the dwellers of five colonies in Kohima under 8th Western Angami Assembly Constituency.
Minister Kruse, who represents this Constituency, handed over the water tanker key to Western Urban Panchayat Union (WUPU) for management at a brief function held here this afternoon at Indoor TT Stadium. Billed as “Water-Our Basic Right,” this project is funded under Local Area Development Programme (LADP) 2025 and it will facilitate the dwellers of New Market, Midland, Officers’ Hill, Daklane and Naga Hospital colony.
Expressing concern over the scarcity of drinking water in urban areas during dry season, Kruse asked WUPU to devise proper mechanism to supply water to the people at the subsidized rate. She asserted that the demand for drinking water increases with the increase in numbers of buildings and population every year in urban areas. Taking into such consideration, Kruse said that water tanker has been necessitated to meet the requirements of water for urban dwellers. She was hopeful that the provided facility will serve the people well and benefit the community.
Earlier, Rev Azahto Kiba, Senior Pastor, New Life Church Kohima invoked God’s blessings. The programme was chaired by WUPU chairman Rokobeizo Nyusou while advisor Khrielakuo Sekhose proposed vote of thanks.
