91,308 govt employees in Nagaland State

The Nagaland State Department of Economics & Statistics has published the government employees census 2011, enumerating the total number government employees at 91, 308.

Out of the 91, 308 employees, 3,707 belong to Class I gazette, 2,401 to Class- II gazette, 61, 264 to class- III and 23, 936 to Grade VI.

For publication of the government employee census report 2011, data was collected from 64 departments in the State, according to the annual administrative report of the Department of Economics & Statistics 2013-14. This report was tabled in the recently concluded assembly session by Parliamentary Secretary T Torechu.

Meanwhile, the report also stated that during, 2013 the estimation of State Domestic Product (SDP) for the year 2010-11 has been published. As per 2010-11, the GSDP, NSDP and Per Capita income at current prices are Rs. 1175937 lakhs, Rs. 1084962 lakhs and 55582 respectively.

The annual growth rate from 2009-2010, 2010-2011 at current prices of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), Net State Domestic Product (NSDP) and Per Capita income are 11.70%, 11.72% and 10.58% respectively. The report said that the estimation of SDP is done to measure the economic position of the State.

“This is one of the best indicators to depict the economic health of the state and the living condition of the people, as it enable as to know the per capita income of the state,” the report stated.

It added that the SDP estimation assumed more significance in recent times as the Planning Commission, Government of India determines the ceiling on the State burrowing account based on the GSDP. As a result, the GSDP estimation has become one of the most important indicators for finalizing the State annual plan.

The report also stated that to evolve an inclusive planning system, the Department is also making necessary preparations to launch the estimation of District Domestic Product (DDP) in the next fiscal year.
