IGNOU, Registrar, SRE Division Dr. Srikant Mohapatra said that the decision was made when a five member Examination Disciplinary Committee examined all the cases after giving the chances of hearing from the students, both in person and through letters. “They shall be debarred from appearing June 2007 Term-end Examination” the Registrar further declared in the release.

Some students have been debarred from appearing the examination for two years as a punishment for forcefully taking away the answer books and threatening the Examination Centre staff.
“In case of impersonation, their results have been cancelled and they have been debarred from the university examination for three years and a police case has already been lodged and their name has been placed in the University website.” Dr. Srikant Mohapatra stated in the release.
