Dimapur | May 21

There are currently about 9,662 people living with HIV (PLHIV) in the districts of Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland, according to an NSACS official.

As per the March 2024 data from NSACS, about 3,034 patients were receiving Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) out of the total, stated Dr Zaiwang, Nodal Officer of the Integrated Health Campaign, Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS), and Deputy Director of Sexually Transmitted Infections.

However, this number includes those from outside these districts seeking treatment here due to the continued prevalence of stigma, she added, addressing the launch of an Integrated Health Campaign at the Deputy Commissioner’s office, Dimapur, on May 21.

Similar health camp launches will be initiated for Chümoukedima and Niuland on May 22. The project’s priority is HIV prevention, but the health camps will provide comprehensive services for other diseases and illnesses as well, the Nodal Officer added.
