99.9% of BJP karyakartas in Nagaland are Christians: Temjen Imna Along

Mokokchung, August 10 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland State Unit President, Temjen Imna Along stated that “99.9 percent of the BJP karyakartas in Nagaland are Christians,” and urged the people to refrain from ‘religious stigmatisation.’

Speaking at the formal induction programme of 13 former officials from different political parties to BJP Mokokchung District on August 8, he said that the party is for all because it “endeavours for the social, economic and political uplift of the people, particularly the tribal people of the country.” 

As per a press release from the party’s district unit, Imna Along, who is also the Minister for Higher Education & Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, therefore, stressed that there should be no confusion with regard to religion or religious belief.

The BJP, in its Constitution and Rule, advocates for secularism and the party stands for the whole communities of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and National President JP Nadda, he asserted.  

Accordingly, he urged the people not to resort to ‘religious stigmatisation’ among the Naga people as India, as democratic country, will stand for the people, the release added. 

Meanwhile, the 13 new inductees were formally welcomed into the BJP fold in presence of Imna Along as well as the BJP district in-charge (and former Minister) Nuklutoshi Longkumer at the party office in Mokokchung. 

The State Unit President while welcoming the inductees said that they were now BJP karyakartas (workers) and further welcomed all to work hand in hand for the development of Nagaland, the release said.  

The District In-charge Nuklutoshi also exhorted the gathering while the district president Imolemba Jamir felicitated the new inductees. 

Speeches were also given by new inductees, the former officers from the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party, it added.
