Mokokchung, October 20 (DIPR): The 9th Late Imlitemjen Memorial Open Table Tennis Tournament organized by Mokokchung District Table Tennis Association. (MDTTA) got underway on October 20 at the Badminton Stadium, Mokokchung. Gracing the inaugural function as the Chief Guest, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung Dr. S. S. Akaba in his address maintained that Asian Countries like China, Korea and Japan dominated the world of table tennis and in this regard he felt that Nagas have similar physical traits and could excel, if we are dedicated and disciplined. He also added, this kind of tournament is an excellent platform for youngsters to display their sporting talents and also a right time to choose ones’ sport discipline. Around 50 participants not only from Mokokchung District but also from Zunheboto District will vie for the Men Under-21, Under-16 Single & Double titles and Girls title. Earlier in the inaugural program, V/President MDTTA, Onen Jamir delivered the welcome address while Tako & friends presented a special song. District Sport Officials and family members of Late Imlitemjen attended the function.
