Mokokchung, DEC 28 (MExN): The Leader of Opposition, I Imkong exhorted the congregation on the occasion of the Centenary Celebration of Dibuia Baptist Church at Dibuia Village today.
I Imkong, narrated how due to sheer boldness and determination, in daring times, Dr. Rev. E W Clark and Ghodula brought the Good News to our land and reached even Dibuia village more than a hundred years ago.
Then after, Christianity had progressed also ushering in education, which has had tremendous result in producing more devoted pastors and Reverends, leaders and intellectuals, he said.
Imkong admitted that when he decided to enter public life some 25 years back, it was his earnest wish to make Dibuia as the central point for a sound administration and he praised God, when he saw all round development of the village in those 25 years. He called upon the younger generation to follow in the footsteps of ‘Truth’ in respect for their revered parents, to achieve greater heights. He also stated that many of the people present here today may not be able to witness the 150th Celebration but the youth, who are the future, would be playing vital roles.
Imkong optimistically stated that he foresees Dibuia to be a Hill Station with talented, skillful and learned youths with Dibuia participating in all walks of life for the enhancement of the land, far and wide. He, therefore, appealed to the youth to adopt ‘work culture’.
Miss T Narola, Women Secretary, NBCC, delivered the message on why we should thank the Lord for all His mighty blessings bestowed on us. Emphasising that the Lord cried with us when no one knew we were crying and was overjoyed when we were happy as well, throughout our lives, for which we should eternally praise God.
Short speeches were delivered by Rongsenchiba, Deacon, Waromung Baptist Churh and an elderly Mr.Imtinokjung, remarkably who is 95 years of age.
After the formal function, the congregation proceeded to the Church, from the Centennial Hall, for the unveiling service of the Centenary Monument by Rev.A Temjem Ao.
The Dibuia Baptist Church Centenary Celebration began December 27 with the theme basing on I Samuel 7:12, and will conclude on December 29.
The main speakers of the Golden Jubilee are Rev.O Alem Ao, Executive Secretary, ABAM, Rev.A Yapang Walling, A/P, KABA, Miss T Narola, Women Secretary, NBCC and Rev.T Supong, Diphupar.
