A just movement on way to waste, NSF laments

Dimapur, Jan 16 (MExN): The Naga movement, fuelled by tribalism and factional vendetta, is fast losing its nationalistic principles and divisive forces have begun taking center-stage which, unless stopped, the “just cause” is on way to waste, the Naga Students Federation forewarns. The Federation , maintaining that the spirit of violence is also fast losing its spirit among the younger generation, appeals to all “Naga national leaders” to respect the sentiment of the masses and move towards reconciliation.

The recent past has seen many innocent Nagas falling victim to their own brothers and attempts have been made to justify the crime of killing but neither in the eyes of God nor in the people’s, are the bloodshed acceptable, the NSF stated through its President Phushika Aomi and Assistant General Secretary Daniel Tep, in a note condemning the latest sectarian surge and killings in the state. “Each life and soul is precious for Nagas to be preserved as the struggle is for the people. The struggle will become meaningless when innocents are targeted or eliminated on petty excuses. The perpetual hunting and killing amongst Nagas is nothing but an act of insanity and should end. Nagas should not dedicated their life to hunt and kill own brothers” it stated.

The NSF also reminds that nationalism is above factionalism, communalism and regionalism, which adversaries of the people are employing to impact a sharp division. And factional killings are their tactical policy, it stated. “Nagas need to fight this enemy’s game plan and defeat them (united)” the students stated and called fro rededication to build a better future ‘in the true spirit of nationalism’.

Calling for ‘One people, One nation’, the Federation asks all “national workers leaders” to understand the consequences of fratricide as being witnessed in Nagaland today and on this, calls for a focus on larger issues, respecting the sentiment of the people and reconcile.
