Kohima, November 28 (MExN): Minister for Women Resource Development & Horticulture Salhoutuonuo Kruse inaugurated the upgradation of Sechu-Zubza PHC to CHC at Sechu-Zubza, Kohima on November 28.
The inaugural programme was held at the CHC premises in the presence of SDO (C) Sechu-Zubza, Director & SPO (NLEP) (H & FW), CMO Kohima, District Program officers and staff, Sechu CHC MO incharge & staff, VHC members & community.
Minister Kruse, in her address, stated ‘today marks a significant milestone in the journey of healthcare development in our region as we inaugurate the upgraded Community Health Centre at Sechu-Zubza.’
Being the representative of the Western Angami Region, Kruse expressed her gratitude towards the department for the upgradation of PHC to CHC which represents the Government’s strong commitment of providing accessible quality health services to every citizen, especially those in rural and remote areas.
She also mention that health centre was originally established several decades ago to serve the basic medical needs for the community yet with growing population and expanded healthcare demands, it has become imperative to upgrade this facility so that it can provide a wider range of medical services and specialist care.
The minister encouraged the village and leaders of the Western Angami Region and health centre staff to take shared responsibility and actively support so as to function efficiently to sustain for the wellbeing of all, while urging everyone to trust and utilize government health services and join hands in safeguarding this healthcare asset
The programme began with invocation by Letuo Neya, Deacon (Pentecostal Church), while the welcome address was delivered by Dr Petekuolie Yhome, Medical Officer, Sechu-Zubza.
Dr Margaret Yhome, Director, H&FW delivered words of encouragement to healthcare provider, encouraging them to be curative, ethical with highest compassion in providing health services for the betterment of Sechu CHC.
CMO Kohima, Dr N Leamnyei Konyak, informed that Sechu PHC was established in 1965, upgraded to PHC in 1991 and now is inaugurated as CHC, reminding the people to have maximal community participation, taking the ownership as own asset, stating “If you love your health, love your hospital.”
