SSUTT protests defaming of apex body
Tuensang, June 28 (MExN): The Sangtam Students’ Union, Tuensang Town (SSUTT), has censured the All Area Sangtam Students’ Union (AASSU) for its attempt “to defame the good image of the United Sangtam Students’ Conference”.
Strongly condemning the news published on June 24 in some local dailies, in which the AASSU had declared the ‘USSC resolution as null and void’, the SSUTT, in a press release issued by its president and assistant general secretary, stated that the “AASSU does not exist under USSC jurisdiction”. It is run by “some self interested persons for cheap publicity and to defame the good image” of the USSC, the release claimed.
While pointing out that an “unauthorised union” like the AASSU has no right to warn the apex body or give directives to any units of USSC, the SSUTT demanded that “clarifications, if any, are to be made officially and not through wide publicity”. The SSUTT further declared its strong support to the USSC and while urging the apex body to take appropriate action against “those self-styled persons at the earliest”, urged its fellow units to condemn “such unauthorised union for defaming its apex body and not to follow such dirty propaganda which is destructive to students community”.
