AASU organises freshers’ day

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 7 (MExN): The Aghünaqa Area Students' Union (AASU) on August 6 had a fresher's meet cum felicitation programme at Town Hall Dimapur with a theme ‘Aspiration to learn and progress.’

The program started with an invocation followed by presidential speech from Ikato Khulu and greetings by Kughato Achumi, President WSSU. The programme was graced by Zakabo Rotokha, Managing Director, NHHDC Ltd Dimapur and Imlijungla Lemtur, EAC, Aghünaqa as special guest and theme speaker respectively. 

Rotokha in his speech highlighted the congregation that Nagaland has 40 thousand excessive jobs in the government sector. As such, he encouraged the students and congregation to look beyond government jobs. He urged the students to focus more on entrepreneurship to be self-reliant and independent. 

In addition, the theme speaker also encouraged the students to keep on learning in every field as it is a never ending process so as to progress through from what one has learnt. 

Further, Mr & Miss fresher was bagged by Vitoka H Yeptho and Mercy Yepthomi, followed by Nitova Katty and Leena Awomi as 1st runner up and Ivika Yepthomi & Isatoli Chophy as 2nd runner up. The programme was attended by more than 800 congregation and sponsored by Nizheto Students' Union. The programme was adjourned with a benediction from KuhoiAchumi, Chairman, AACLF.
