Impur, May 21 (MExN): In a noble gesture, the Ao Baptist Church Association (ABAM), Impur has stepped up in shouldering responsibility by allowing the use of facilities at Impur to set up quarantine centre and also to provide food for the returnee from outside the state.

ABAM Executive Secretary, Rev Dr Mar Atsongchanger said that the quarantine centre at Clark Memorial Higher Secondary School, Impur would accommodate 200 people. He said ABAM has earmarked a budget of Rs. 17 Lakhs for running the quarantine centre for which the churches has come forward to contribute towards the ABAM COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Atsongchanger said that returnees who come to Impur must think that they are coming home, for apart from providing food and lodging we take this as an opportunity to extend love and care in practical towards humanity.

Meanwhile, ABAM has lauded Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) for seizing and destroying the illicit intoxicant which “would have killed thousands of our citizens.” The Association has decried people involved in this illegal activity and demands rightful action from the concerned authority.

“Church associations, local churches and various apex bodies are putting great effort to maintain NLTP act which we have successfully accomplished in 1989 and the truth is this act can be fully maintained only with the cooperation of every department in the state,” ABAM Executive Secretary, Rev Dr Mar Atsongchanger stated in a press release.
