Dimapur, November 9 (MExN): The Angami Baptist Church Council, Clean Election Movement, Core Committee (ABCC, CEM, CC) organised a two-wheeler rally with the theme, ‘I stand for Clean Election’ on November 8.
Altogether, more than 200 riders participated in this event, according to a press release received here on Wednesday. The rally culminated with a short service at ABCC Mission Compound, Kohima.
Speaking at the event, Pastor Atuo Whuorie, Convenor, ABCC, CEM, CC stated that the CEM is a non partisan movement with no political agenda, and does not support or condemn any party or individual. The church’s sole concern is to remind its members to stay away from all the malpractices that come with election, to act as responsible Christian stewards, he maintained.
He also reminded the gathering not to conform oneself to the patterns of the world, to continue to renew oneself as an act of worship, and to stand for truth with honesty and integrity. He urged the participants to come forward and give a pledge to stand for Clean Election with a willing heart.
In the end, a signature campaign was held, and wristbands and CEM stickers were distributed. The programme was chaired by Esabel Solo member, ABCC, CEM, CC; Ruokuovinuo Noudi, Director, ABCC Women Department read the Scripture and said the invocation prayer, a special number was presented by Boulieo Sekhose and Rev Dr V Atsi Dolie, Executive Director, ABCC pronounced the benediction prayer.
