Singer-songwriter Abdon Mech continues to share his beautiful gift of music, the most recent being the release of his EP titled ‘From A Bamboo Room.’

The Dimapur based artist released the five track record on April 24. It is available in various music streaming platforms.

Sharing a little bit about the story behind the EP, this 23-year-old artist says, “Over the last few years, I have grown as an artist and this EP is an attempt to put all of that together in a 20 minute story.”

Abdon admits that with time he is “moving on quite quickly to newer things and a newer sound and so I wanted to document the early phase of my artistic experience through this record.”

“Sonically, it aims to capture that era where everything was stripped down and it was just me and my guitar in my room,” he resonates.

Talking about the inspiration behind the title of the EP, he says, “It is pretty self explanatory but I call it ‘From a Bamboo Room’ because these are songs that I wrote from my small bamboo room during the initial days of my journey as an artist. It is about the ordinary and the simplistic things in life, and how there is so much beauty in the mundane.”

“In keeping with the overall theme of the record,” Abdon shares, “everything was recorded at home with basic/second-hand recording equipments during the first lockdown period by me. Then I sent it to two producers - Sarthak Pawar (Faridabad) and Arennungsang (Kohima) who mixed and mastered the record. Everything was done very organically.”

With surge of the global pandemic, Abdon is putting a halt of the plan for a North East tour. “My team and I were putting together a North East tour to promote the EP and we were going to start May 1, but we have to push it because of the pandemic.”

“It is quite uncertain really as long as the near future is concerned... For now, some music videos are on the way to push the record digitally,” he shared.
