ACAUT asks people to attend February 13 Chumu meeting

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 9 (MExN): The Action Committee Against Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) has called upon “every concerned individuals and organizations” to attend the public meeting to be held on February 13, 9:00am at the Saturday Weekly Market, Chumukedima. This was stated in a press release from the ACAUT’s media cell.

Reiterating its need to be “duty bound” by the October 31 Public Resolution on the issue of taxation, the ACAUT noted that its movement is “gathering momentum in the light of very important decision taken by various organisations, namely, DUCCCF (Dimapur Urban Colony Council Chairmen Federation) & GBs Union Dimapur, covering 87 colonies or roughly 2 lakh population or 10% of Nagaland population, CCCTA (Chumukedima Chamber of Commerce and Trade Association) and Chamber of Commerce, Mon not to pay tax to any NPGs as per the 31st October Public Resolution.”

The ACAUT has also pointed out that Purana Bazar Village Council, Padumpukhuri VC, Darogapathar VC and Naharbari VC had taken the same decision on November 23, 2013, “much to the gratitude of concerned citizens all over the state.”

“The stand of CCCTA to involve members of the civil society, tribal hohos, youth organisations, students, women organisations and the general public is indeed a step in the right direction,” stated the ACAUT, further calling out for the above mentioned meeting at Chumukedima.

The ACAUT has additionally stated that “The NSCN should not allow petty issues like forceful sale of calendar sully its name,” also pointing out that the NSCN (IM) “does not intent to abide” by the ‘Rules & Guidelines for Protection of the General Public Against Illegal Tax, 2013’ approved by its Collective Leadership with regards to the sale of calendars.
