Dimapur, July 18 (MExN): ACAUT on Tuesday issued a strong condemnation against the alleged harassment to members of the Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) by one Col. Tokugha.
“This so-called Colonel has been giving sleepless nights to the Chairmen federation members for almost two months - throwing his weight around threatening the federation members with arrest and confinement in Camp Khehoi,” a press release from the ACAUT’s Media Cell stated and in this regard, questioned the GPRN/NSCN whether the organisation and the colonel is in tune with ground reality.
“Does the GPRN/NSCN really think that all its public relation exercises cosying to various tribal hohos and organisations will bear fruit when on the other hand it sanctions some people like Tokugha to harass the general public?” ACAUT further questioned and demanded that the Colonel be terminated from the GPRN/NSCN immediately. “If not, the ACAUT should not be held responsible for any course of action which it may be compelled to undertake.”
Pointing out that Dimapur Urban comprises of at least a lakh population, ACAUT insisted that the Colonel would be “gravely mistaken” if he thinks he can intimidate the Chairmen community. “Those Khushi-khushi days are long gone,” ACAUT maintained.
Meanwhile, ACAUT directed the DUCCF not to pay any form of tax to any faction as per the October 31, 2013 resolution. The Colonel had fixed September 2017 as the final date of payment of tax for DUCCF but ACAUT remains adamant. “The consequences will be grave if anything happens to any members of the Chairmen community,” it warned.
