ACAUT lauds Nagaland Lokayukta

Dimapur, August 16 (MExN): The Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland lauded the Nagaland Lokayukta for the prosecution sanction granted against two charge-sheeted retired IAS officers.

The case pertains to the project of ‘Post Harvest Management of Horticulture crops’ in six districts of Nagaland amounting to Rs 717.90 lakh.

In its press statement on August 15, ACAUT said it was astonishing that without technical approval the work order was issued and within 4 days the first installment of 241.30 was released.

It said that the prompt approval and hasty withdrawal of cash bypassing procedural requirements was “a clear indication of the nefarious nexus between the technocrats, bureaucrats and politicians for their own vested interest.”

ACAUT alleged that the said project implemented in the 6 districts of Dimapur, Peren, Phek, Wokha, Tuensang and Mokokchung were made on private lands instead of government procured lands “expose a sinister design  to hand over the projects to certain privileged class of people once the implementation part is over.”

“…connivance to sabotage such important project under SFAC (N) (Small Farmers' Agribusiness Consortium ) amounts to betrayal of the trust of the farmers,” it further stated.

Demanding an exemplary punishment after the indictment of the accused and collaborators, ACAUT cautioned that, unless justice is served, the “cyclical corruption” in the State “will spiral out of control.”
