Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): The Against Corruption & Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) Nagaland today warned goods transporters that in the event of entertaining the Naga Political Groups (NPG) in matter of tax, they will be liable for police action under relevant sections of the law. ACAUT in a press release issued by its Media Cell alleged that the transporters have been approached by some of the factions to deduct tax at source.
“Since wholesalers of footwear items have expressed their inability to give tax to the faction on account of ACAUT, the cadres have aligned themselves with the transporters whereby every carton or crate of footwear will be taxed Rs. 150/- at the transport godowns itself failing which the goods will not be released,” the release claimed.
ACAUT reminded the factions that due to the burden of taxation in Nagaland, business houses have steadily migrated to Lahorijan and Khatkhati.
“If the Naga movement is based on love for the land, it’s time for the factions to have a serious rethink,” it stated. It further requested Dimapur Police to watch out for the activities of the transporters.
