Governor, February 2 (DIPR): “Citizens of India should enjoy equal rights and opportunities,” stated the Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya while gracing the 15th session of Pongvin Mozu Moyong (Festival) of the Minority Indigenous Community as the chief guest at Mount Langshai Campus, near Wangti Village under Mon district on February 1.
He maintained that India is a democratic secular nation and respects diversity. “Every citizen should enjoy electricity, drinking water, schools, hospitals, proper road connectivity etc.,” he said while assuring to look into the problems faced by the people and take the matters up with the concern authority.
“India is a secular state, and all should work to strengthen the principal of secularism,” he also added and called on the gathering to preserve their culture and tradition and inculcate them to the younger generation. “Culture is the base of a human being to march forward and mother tongue is our identity,” he further stated.
Chairman, Wangti Village Council, Pongthra Angh and Ex-Assistant Commandment, VG, Chingjei delivered short speeches. S. Hoya chaired the programme. Nahwang Langshai delivered the welcome address. Students of Nengwang School presented a special song. Founder, Community & Religion, Rev. Dr. N. Yahoi Konyak pronounced the vote of thanks while, Langshai women presented a folk song.
