ACID and NDWM Nagaland Region advocates ‘Each for Equal’

Dimapur, March 9 (MExN): Assisi Centre for Integrated Development (ACID) cum National Domestic Workers’ Movement (NDWM)- Nagaland Region celebrated International Women’s Day with the theme “Each for Equal” at Assisi Auditorium, Lake view colony, Dimapur on March 9.
The chief guest, L Leivang, General Manager/OIC of NABARD, Dimapur speaking on the theme said that the tribal society which is male dominated struggles to give equal rights to women in many fields. “It can change only through our attitudinal changes. Only when we broaden our attitude and think women and men as equal we will all become agents of change to break the barriers of cultural, economic, political and social indifferences,” he said.
The guest of honour, Munthin Newmai, Councilor of Naga Council and proprietor of HMC School said, “Our world is incomplete without women. The day like this we need to appreciate, recognize and give back to our women what they are for all of us.”
Sr Pramila, Director, ACID exhorted the gathering. The Chairperson of the event, Kunlung B Phom encouraged the women present in the programme to become a voice to the voiceless and to be strong women. Different cultural items were presented by NCLP, CRM, NDWM, SHGs and tailoring students.
Placards were displayed around with messages such as “Zero Tolerance on Gender-Based Violence at workplace”, “women you are strong”, “we are Equal”, and “We are the Scream of those who have no Voice”.
Earlier, the programme began with prayer by Ashila Sangtam; vote of thanks was delivered by Bendangmoa while Hoyili Chishi said the benediction.
