‘Acknowledge June 14 peace agreement’ SKK to NSCNs

Dimapur, August 13 (MExN): Expressing unhappiness at the August 9 incident at Sutemi village (under Akuluto sub-division), the All Sumi Students Union (SKK) has appealed to both the factions of the NSCN to acknowledge the June 14 resolution of Zunheboto where a peace agreement was signed, following the effort of Sumi NGOs to usher curb factional clashes in the areas.

The SKK through its president V Hetoi Chishi in a press release while condemning the act as a senseless act stated that the general public extend their fullest support when NSCN leaders say (quoted) “the Naga people after sacrificing thousands of lives, has now entered into ceasefire agreement with GoI with a view to bring about political solution through peaceful means”.

“When India got freedom from foreign domination, there were numbers of different underground factions but they were not enemies to each other. It is of the opinion that we Nagas are forgetting our political principles because we are more in exchanging gunfire among ourselves, killing among ourselves than to politically fight with India till our goal is achieved. Indians are no more negative to us, we must realize our weakness than to blame the government of India” the SKK stated. The organization stating that while there will also be interest groups/underground factions in the Naga society even after a political settlement, it should not be the factor why Nagas would have to fight among themselves.

“We are of any limit to maintain peace with Indian government in whose hand the lives of many innocent Nagas were mercilessly put to an end. So why not we look into the positive side of each other and create peace among ourselves. Every national worker must keep in mind that the weapon in your possession is for political purpose and not to kill the one that is near you” the SKK stated.
