Action against non-payment of light bills in Kohima

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 27 (MExN): The Executive Engineer Electrical Division Kohima, Er Rukongutuo Suohu has informed all electricity consumers under Electrical Division, Kohima that disconnection of defaulting and illegal/unauthorized consumers will start with immediate effect. Therefore, all the registered consumers under Kohima town and rural areas under Electrical Division, Kohima are requested to clear their electricity bills at the earliest in order to avoid disconnection and inconvenience. 

Further, public are warned that illegal/unauthorized tapping and use of electricity is an offence and will invite penalty in the form of fine/imprisonment or both as per Electricity Act, 2003 and therefore all are requested to desist from such activities. Consumers are also requested to read the information printed at the back of the Electricity Bill and to note that “Non receipt of bills is not valid excuse for failure to make payment within due date. Duplicate bill may be obtained from local office on demand.”
