Actions and results needed to be a true leader: Manwani

Lions Club Dimapur celebrate 50 years of existence

Acknowledging the formation of Lions Club Dimapur which celebrated its 50th anniversary on June 19, chief guest for the occasion Raju V Manwani, former Director of Lions Club International (2013-15), stated that the success of Lions Club, in India and across the world, lies in its time management, discipline, resource utilisation and dedication of its leaders. 

Manwani encouraged the club members to continue serving the society and the state with sincerity and shared several life lessons that needed to be inculcated into their personal lives.

“I never expected this kind of work, presentation and service in Dimapur so keep up the good job,” he said. 

Besides this, he mentioned how personal self-assessment and analysing one’s own capabilities is crucial towards being a leader that society needs. He also spoke about the value of always being ready to learn new ideas and understanding the needs of each individual on a day-to-day basis. 

What’s more, Manwani reminded the club members to utilise the potential of social media in amplifying their works and activities to a wider audience which is part of the value of presentation and knowledge.

Furthermore, he noted how time management, having a positive mindset, being patient and with good manners goes a long towards earning the respect of people wherever they may be. Lastly, he spoke about how the value of actions and results without any underlying excuses shows the capability of the individual as a whole. 

Special invitee, Sachin Jaiswal, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dimapur, also gave his recognition and admiration to the past leaders who envisioned the activities of the club in Dimapur towards providing service to the State and the districts.

“Clubs like these show how society can be positively mobilised and act as a support force to the state government. Ranging from the health sector, rural development and most recently the Covid-19 pandemic where the community support has helped our state in a massive way,” he reminded further. 

Moreover the DC called upon the leaders and members to continue collaborating with the district administration and the State government in the future as well.  

Lions Club of Dimapur which completed in 50 years of existence began in 1972 under the initiative of Lions Club of Imphal, Manipur. Throughout this period, the club had two charter members as well, who also served as ministers in two states,  in the likes of  JB Jasokie, Chief Minister of Nagaland from 1978-82 and Late Radha Binod Koijam, Chief minister of Manipur, 2001; in addition to Dr SC Jamir being a former member of the club as well.
