Active COVID-19 cases increase to 2 in Nagaland

Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): Active COVID-19 cases in Nagaland increased to 2 with the detection of a fresh case on May 8. According to the State Health Department, as of as of 6PM on Sunday, Dimapur and Kohima, respectively had one active case each.

The positive case in Dimapur was classified as ‘mild’ symptomatic while the case in Kohima was designated asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, a total of 59 samples were tested on Sunday, resulting in 1 positive case, denoting a sample positivity rate of 2.04%, added the daily COVID-19 Bulletin issued by the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, Department Of Health And Family Welfare, Nagaland.

Accordingly, Nagaland’s COVID-19 tally increased to 35,490 on Sunday, out of which 33,244 people have recovered.
The death toll due to the infection stood at 760 while 4 deaths were classified as ‘non-Covid deaths (with COVID-19 positivity).’

 Altogether 1,484 patients have migrated to other states, the IDSP data stated.

Nearly 23 months after detection of first 3 cases, Nagaland became officially ‘COVID-19 free’ for the first time with zero ‘active’ case on April 24.

However, breaking a 12-day streak, Nagaland detected one new case in Kohima on May 6.  Again, after a day gap, the new case on Sunday was detected taking the active cases to 2.
