ACVA Wokha raises concerns over unauthorized tax collection at VK town

WOKHA, OCTOBER 9 (MExN): The All-Commercial Vehicle Association (ACVA) of Wokha District has expressed concern over the unauthorized tax collection by NSCN/GPRN groups on its members.

A press release issued by ACVA Wokha alleged that members of the NSCN/GPRN-K and NSCN/GPRN-K (Isac) have repeatedly imposed taxes on the ACVA Wokha, particularly those operating in the VK Town area.

They also allegedly threatened to ban ACVA members from travelling through VK Town unless these taxes are paid, which has deeply hurt the sentiments of the ACVA Wokha and the general public, the press release said.

In response to these developments, the ACVA Wokha has appealed to the Village Chairman of VK Town for support in addressing this issue by taking appropriate steps to halt the unauthorized tax collection.

The ACVA Wokha also called upon law enforcement agencies, including the police and local administration, to bolster their efforts by deploying highway patrols in the VK Town area. While appreciating their past efforts, it appealed for more stringent measures to combat these ongoing tax demands.

Reiterating its commitment to the principle of "One Government, One Tax," taken in collaboration with various civil society organizations like the Lotha Hoho and Lotha Eloe Hoho, the ACVA has demanded an immediate cessation of unauthorized tax collections by the GPRN/NSCN groups. Should these demands remain unaddressed, ACVA Wokha said it will be compelled to take further action.
